Field Programmes

  1. Bhoothpur mandal of Mahboobnagar district in Andhra Pradesh to undertake field activities with a view to develop it as a model mandal. Organized health camps, innovative agricultural demonstrations, awareness camps and seasonal agricultural campaigns as entry point activities. Prepared holistic Micro Plans for Integrated Rural Development of 17 villages of the mandal with participatory vision using an innovative approach i.e Village Level Participatory Approach.

  2. Prepared participatory integrated development plan and strategies for the mandal using convergence approach.

  3. Facilitated training of five unemployed graduates (staff of PRDIS) on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technologies on cotton and chillies organized by FAO/UNDP/ Government of India/State Department of Agriculture A.P. and also facilitated training of six village volunteers and some of farmers on seed production, water management and high value crops.

  4. Facilitated implementation of rural development programmes (house, drought mitigation works, feeder canal rehabilitation etc) in collaboration with partner NGOs and with financial support from Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), GOI.

  5. PRDIS was PIA for implementing Watershed Development Programmes under APRLP in Boothpur mandal of Mahabubnagar.

  6. Activities related to Resource Center on Micro planning and Micro Finance funded by CAPART .

  7. Organized 25 Farmer Field Schools in Bhootpur and Bijenepalli mandals on IPM, seed production in 4 villages and vermicompost in collaboration with FAO and Directorate of Agriculture, A.P. in the villages as a strategy for improving Rural Livelihood through SHGs and Rytumitra Groups as well as to pave way towards organic farming in the mandal.

  8. Organized groups and implemented organic farming programme in collaboration with ETC-Solidardidad (Netherlands).

  9. Organized FFS on ICM of Paddy at Chattisgarh State in collaboration with CTDP, (IFAD funded programme) Bilaspur.

  10. PRDIS was Nodal NGO for CAPART in implementation of rural development projects.

  11. Completed "Random Sample Survey of Habitations" in Andhra Pradesh on behalf of Department of Drinking Water Supply (DDWS), Ministry of Rural Development, and GOI. In this study , covered 730 Habitations in twenty districts of Andhra Pradesh to categorize the habitations has Fully Covered (FC), Partially Covered(PC) and Not Covered (NC) based on quality of the drinking water, quantity of the drinking water and distance of the source for drinking water .

  12. Organized Exposure Visits to the Farmers, Scientists, Staff of CTDP to the Programme areas of PRDIS.

  13. Undertaken sustainable cotton production programme in Boothpur mandal of Mahaboobnagar district in partnership with State Department of Agriculture and ANGRAU as Private-Public Partnership Initiative. During this initiative farmers were organized into groups and federated at village level. The Groups were trained on Production, Marketing, Credit and on supply chain aspects in order to facilitate better prizes for quality produce and to eliminate middlemen.

  14. Implemented sustainable agricultural interventions through Farmer Field School Approach in Rice, Vegetables and other crops in Tribal areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

  15. Watershed Development Programme (APRLP) This programme sponsored by Andhra Pradesh Rural Livelihood Programme (APRLP) of DFID. The programme is being implemented through DPAP, Mahabubnagar. PRDIS is project-implementing agency (PIA) for 6 watersheds in Boothpur mandal of Mahaboobnagar district.

  16. Promotion of Bio-villages at Boothpur PRDIS has also organized FFS on Cotton IPM in the selected APRLP villages at Boothpur mandal in Mahaboobnagar district with self-supported finances, duly rendering technical guidance under FLD programme of the State Department of Agriculture. In this programme, the farmer facilitators trained by PRDIS are supplying Trichocards and Neem Seed Kernel (NSK) extract to their own villages and other villagers and enabled them to effectively adopt IPM on cotton. Besides these, many farmers have installed vermi-compost and Bio-gas units paving way towards Bio-villages.

  17. Due to the untiring efforts of PRDIS on cotton IPM, pesticide application has been significantly reduced to a large extent in two villages and nearly 80 percent of the farmers are practicing IPM. Witnessing the encouraging results, many farmers from neighbouring villages are enthusiastic towards taking up IPM on cotton and other crops.

  18. PRDIS has also taken up Comprehensive Land Development Programme (CLDP) in five villages where several activities like the clearance of bushes and stones, silt application, land leveling etc., have been undertaken in addition to NRM activities in the two villages with a coverage of 350 hectars.

  19. Seed Village Programme on castor at Boothpur to ensure supply of pure and quality castor seed to farmers of Mahabubnagar district and other areas, PRDIS initiated organization of seed village programme in Bhootpur mandal and provided necessary input supply and technical advice. Under this programme, the PRDIS has supplied 28 Kg of breeder seed and 102 Kg of foundation seed of castor to cover an area of 47 acres in 24 farmers’ fields of 4 villages in Boothpur mandal. The PRDIS facilitators render the technical advices of crop husbandry activities, and the farmers are very much impressed at the efforts of PRDIS in helping them to produce quality castor seed.

  20. Organised Agriculture Productivity Enhancement on various field crops including cotton and Vegetables through IPM-FFS at 4 mandals of Mahaboobnagar district. Sponsored by Syngenta Foundation India. Emphasis was on groups and marketing.
